OYSTER FALLS
The ultimate North Devon challenge? Shallow spot 1/4 mile out from Downend Point which breaks left and right. Waves breaking here reach the point a couple of minutes later. It shows on big swells and will break on a spring low tide with a minimum swellsize of around 6 foot.

Oysters is the shallow spot directly out from the point

It’s a good indicator and if it ever breaks after low tide you know it is BIG and its time to head up the coast for Lynmouth or even Porlock (both unsuitable for novices) To surf Oysters you would ideally need a boat or a helicopter. It has been surfed a few times, one guy did use a helicopter to get back in. It was a nice yellow one with RESCUE written on the side.

More pictures and some Mpeg movies will be added to this page over the winter months when time allows us to gather more footage.
