This can be a good righthander that breaks over the rocks in front the National Trust Baggy Point carpark. There is only sufficient depth of water over these rocks on spring high tides and as it also requires 3 to 4 foot of swell (minimum) it can only work a few hours per month.
To be "safe" you should wait till all "boiling" (scaring of the water surface caused by the rocks below) has ceased. It is very shallow on the inside. You can wipe out on an overhead wave and when you stand up you are in knee deep water standing on jagged rock. A helmet would be a good idea but nobody bothers. This is the only break in Croyde that can take a little northerly wind. Crowds can be a problem and this best regarded as a LOCALS ONLY spot.
