2004 (Subject to availability/E&O excepted) Despite the shop being a little on the small side we keep a huge selection of Bodyboards, probably the best in North Devon. We do keep a range of polystyrene (breakable) boards for kids and day trippers etc. however here we will concentrate on more permanent solutions! Budget Bodyboards
First up, rubbery blobby boards (note the technical terms). These are largely unbreakable. These boards are just a solid chunk of blobby stuff and aimed at budget, whitewater surfing tourists. They are cheap and cheerful but lack the rigidity and flex of a real bodyboard. Most can bend both ways so they trampoline along without any real control...things are improved though if you go for one with a decent "slick bottom". This improves rigidity, aids planing and allows better control. These boards all come with a very basic cheap leash. Budget/Entry Level Bodyboards
Moving up the scale a bit we also stock Alder Bodyboards...The "Exit" and "Cyclone" are much better versions of the blobby/slick construction and include a cheap coiled leash. The Zone however is a real bodyboard in that it is a sandwich construction laminated together involving a core and several other pieces..see "exploded" view of a Manta board below. Real bodyboards generally don't include leashes in their price. Many shops "throw in" a cheapo leash in the board asking price but we don't see the sense in buying a decent board then putting a sh*t leash on it. We only use proper brass-swivelled coiled leashes in the shop which retail at £14.99 so we give these away free if the board costs over £100. If the board is below £100 then the £14.99 leash is available for a tenner on top of the board price.
More Entry Level/Mid-range Bodyboards
These are all entry level bodyboards fitting into the hotly contested sub £100 bracket....First we have (left of picture) the "Gul Pro 42" A nice board for £69.95 (Shown here with the £14.99 leash) Total price as shown £79.95.
